Greatest Hits

This blog is primarily a reflective exercise for me, and I love to write.  I love that writing my gratitude makes me feel even more grateful for things I never noticed before.  I love having a journal to look back on and to share with you.  I love that I gain connections from some of you.  I love your comments and your feedback.  And of all that I love on this blog, these are the entries that I love the most.

my son’s birth story (warning, it’s not what you or I was expecting, but it’s our story just the same)

my thoughts on fathers   (also not what was expected, but it’s part of my story just the same)

the letter I wrote my boy on his first birthday

my VBAC post

and this rambling entry that still rocks my heart.  And I hope it does yours as well.

I also love to see new places and things, and I’ve written a little here about our travels with a baby and now with a toddler.

Seattle 2010

Costa Rica and more Costa Rica 2011

Pacific Northwest and Vancouver 2011

NYC 2011

Paris 2012 – parts one, two, three, and four

____________

The entries that truly serve as my “greatest hits” – meaning by far my most viewed entries – are quite different from my favorites, but you still might find them fun and useful.

the series on our first birthday carnival extravaganza

my freezer cooking tips and tricks

______________

I take photos often, and I treasure having those pieces of my days to reflect on when I have a little one growing so fast.  I find it really surprising and flattering when someone offers a comment or an email with a photography question because I am not remotely professional.  All of what you see on this blog is captured by a Nikon D90 or often my Canon S90 pocket camera when I am out and about without a free shoulder to lug a DSLR around.  Lately, I tend to shy away from photo editing because I simply don’t have the time to learn programs and make things look right.  I typically play with contrast levels a bit in iPhoto and call it done.  I also love fun photo apps on my phone, my favorite of which is Instagram.

This blog is primarily a personal journal for me, but I have done the occasional product review and giveaway before.  If you represent or create a product that you would like to advertise here, drop me an email at mamathereader [at] gmail dot com . I enjoy spreading the word about products I love and helping small businesses and Etsy sellers.  I also enjoy showering my readers with free stuff.  I do not offer space or accept cash for advertising since I embrace this space as personal rather than professional.
